Governance attributes assigned to Fact Tags through Umecohming can do more than record the provenance or conditions of use of information. They can also be used to control the scope within which that information may be used throughout subsequent processing and Execution. Absolute Confidentiality is an extended use case of this capability.

Organizations often handle information that must not be externalized. Confidential corporate information, research and development data, customer information, and internal documents may be available for AI-assisted analysis and processing within an organization while remaining prohibited from transmission to external services or other organizations.

In I2EA, such information can be associated with an Absolute Confidential attribute together with a defined Permitted Domain. For example, information designated as “Absolute Confidential / Permitted Domain: Company A” may be processed within Company A’s authorized Domain, while Execution that would move the information beyond that Domain is not permitted.

This restriction is not implemented merely by instructing an AI system not to transmit the information externally. When an Execution involving an external API, network, or other destination is requested, the Execution Boundary verifies the relationship between the Destination and the Permitted Domain, allowing Execution within the Domain and blocking Execution outside it. Confidentiality constraints can therefore remain effective from information input through to Execution.

Absolute Confidentiality is also distinct from other governance attributes. Qualification / Access determines who may access the information. Do Not Train determines whether the information may be used for AI training or model learning. Absolute Confidential determines where the information may go. An actor may therefore be authorized to access information without being authorized to transmit that information outside its permitted Domain.

The critical distinction is that Access Permission and Externalization Permission are not equivalent. Authorization to view or use information does not necessarily include authorization to move that information beyond its permitted governance boundary.

Through Absolute Confidentiality, confidentiality becomes more than a classification label or an instruction to an AI system. It becomes a governance attribute that follows information into Execution and prevents operations that would cross its permitted Domain Boundary.
